The plans are starting to come together and we are narrowing in on the Botswana safari routes and lodgings. It has taken about three weeks to get to this point and we still have to make the final selections. Trips like this one require a solid amount of advanced planning. I’m all for the trips that are foot loose and fancy free, going day by day and figuring it out along the way. A safari in a country we’ve never been to that is crawling with predators of all shapes and sizes simply isn’t one of those trips.
I’ve been in touch with numerous safari operators and several of them have proven to be the most helpful: Siyabona Africa, Ker & Downey and Desert & Delta Safaris. Expert Africa has also provided a wealth of knowledge and can assist in almost any, if not all, African countries.
The only real delay in our nailing down the details is my inability to pick which of these beautiful camps to stay at. Our 7 day safari options have us staying at three different camps in three different regions of the country and all of the options are stunning. I’m at the point I just need to close my eyes and pick because each safari seems equally sensational. If you look through the below options you’ll see what I mean. (main image source)
Tau Pan Camp, central Kalahari
Lebala Camp, Okavango Delta
Okuti, Moremi Game Reserve
Nxai Pan Camp, Magadikgadi
